Who's Running Sparkman Wharf's October Calendar? Mostly the Tenants Next Door

October 8, 2026

Who's teaching the Wednesday workout on the Sparkman Wharf lawn this month? Look up the four studios on the October schedule and three of them show up somewhere else too: in the Wharf's own directory of places, listed alongside the food containers and the beer garden. BODYROK Pilates, F45 Training and Biomefit lead three of the four "Wellness at the Wharf" sessions, and all three appear in that directory. The dog event on Oct. 18 runs out of The Modern Paws, another tenant. The free drink after the Witchy Wellness yoga class comes from Fit Bowl Co., and the latte sample comes from Shortwave Coffee.

For anyone living in the Channel District, that changes how October at 615 Channelside Dr. works. The Wharf's calendar is mostly the people who already pay rent there, setting up on the lawn. The nights that will actually feel crowded are decided by the schedule at Benchmark International Arena across the street.

The container garden picked up four names since June

The lineup running these events is newer than it looks. Smith's Provisions and The Back Bar, both from Cru Hospitality, opened at Sparkman Wharf earlier in 2026. Engrained Apparel, a Tampa streetwear brand founder Gabriel Santos started as a side hustle at local markets, secured its first storefront at Sparkman Wharf in early June. The Tampa Downtown Partnership said on June 8 that it would open near Hampton Chocolate Factory this summer, following a run at Nimble at Spark Square. By July 6, local coverage was describing it as open.

Ziki's Greek Street Food is the latest arrival. It comes from the team behind Half Moon Seafood Company and was announced for a July soft opening in the space between Fit Bowl Co. and Dang Dude. That's So Tampa reported it open on Aug. 3.

As of early October, the Wharf's place directory lists these food, drink and retail tenants:

  • Eat: Ziki's Greek Street Food, Half Moon Seafood Company, Dang Dude, Fit Bowl Co., Noble Rice, BurgerFi, JoDog Craft Hot Dogs, Everglazed Chicken + Doughnuts, Jotoro, Gallito Taqueria
  • Drink and sweets: Smith's Provisions & The Back Bar, LightHaus Beer Garden, Shortwave Coffee, Jeni's Ice Creams, Whatever Pops, Hampton Chocolate Factory
  • Shop and play: Engrained Apparel, The Modern Paws, Splitsville
  • Fitness and work: BODYROK Pilates, F45 Training, Biomefit, Industrious

The last line explains the October calendar. Once a mixed-use site has fitness studios and a pet shop among its tenants, it doesn't need to bring in outside promoters for a Wednesday class or a Sunday dog contest. Its tenants can run those events and pick up some exposure on the lawn at the same time.

One closure on Meridian, a few blocks off the Wharf

The neighborhood also lost a long-running spot this fall. La La's Sangria Bar and La La's Sports Lounge at 203 N. Meridian Ave. closed for good on Sunday, Sept. 13, after a little more than six years. It opened in fall 2019 and was known for house-made sangria with no added sugar. Co-owners John and Lauren English hinted that the concepts could return at another location, writing that it was "just goodbye to these doors."

So the bar inventory near Meridian got smaller in September. Within walking distance, the newest place to drink is The Back Bar inside the Wharf, which keeps the Wharf's hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The October calendar, Wharf and arena together

No single source publishes the Wharf's events next to the arena's, and the arena's are the ones that change parking, sidewalks and streetcar crowds. Here they are together, with dates checked against today's calendar.

Date At Sparkman Wharf Across the street or nearby
Mon., Oct. 5 Lightning vs. Philadelphia
Wed., Oct. 7 Wellness at the Wharf with BODYROK, 6 to 6:45 p.m. Water Street Night Market
Thu., Oct. 8 Lightning vs. Minnesota; Sounds of the Street on Water Street
Tue., Oct. 13 Witchy Wellness, 6 to 9 p.m.
Wed., Oct. 14 Wellness at the Wharf with Orange Theory Fitness, 6 to 6:45 p.m.
Thu., Oct. 15 Lightning vs. Seattle
Sat., Oct. 17 Lightning vs. Vancouver
Sun., Oct. 18 Howl-O-Ween, 4 to 6 p.m. The Market on Water Street
Wed., Oct. 21 Wellness at the Wharf with F45 Training, 6 to 6:45 p.m.
Wed., Oct. 28 Wellness at the Wharf with Biomefit, 6 to 6:45 p.m.
Thu., Oct. 29 Lightning vs. Winnipeg
Fri., Oct. 30 Halloween Movie on the Lawn, 5 to 9 p.m.
Sat., Oct. 31 Nightmare on Channelside concert at Benchmark International Arena

The useful pattern is that the two schedules barely overlap. All four Wellness at the Wharf sessions fall on Wednesdays, and every Lightning home game this month lands on a Monday, Thursday or Saturday. Howl-O-Ween is on a Sunday afternoon with no game. The real pinch point is the last weekend: the Lightning host Winnipeg on Thursday, Oct. 29, the Halloween movie fills the lawn Friday, and on Saturday, Oct. 31, the arena hosts Nightmare on Channelside with 21 Savage, Kodak Black, Meek Mill and DaBaby.

What the tenant-run events actually include

The event pages vary a lot in how much detail they give.

Witchy Wellness, Tuesday, Oct. 13. This one has the most published detail. The evening runs 6 to 9 p.m., with yoga at 7 p.m., witchy vendors until 8 p.m., a pumpkin-spice latte sample from Shortwave Coffee, a free Fit Bowl Co. drink after class, specials at the dining containers, and tarot or coffee-cup mini readings. The yoga ticket on BigTickets costs $0. You still need to register, sign a fitness waiver, arrive 10 minutes early, and bring water and a yoga mat. The ticket page lists class hours of 6:30 to 8 p.m. with doors at 6:15, which doesn't quite match the Wharf's 7 p.m. start time, so plan to arrive by 6:15.

Howl-O-Ween, Sunday, Oct. 18. Contest registration opens at 3 p.m. at The Modern Paws, and the contest starts at 4 p.m. The first 50 people to register get a treat bag. The pop-up vendors are The Modern Paws, Pugs & Petals Flower Bar, PetWants and Mercyful Project. The page says the contest has "a variety of categories" but doesn't list them, and it doesn't mention an admission price.

Wellness at the Wharf, Wednesdays. Each listing gives the studio and the 6 to 6:45 p.m. time slot. None of them states a price, a registration process or a dog policy. If you plan to go, check with the host studio or the Wharf's newsletter before showing up with a mat.

Halloween Movie on the Lawn, Friday, Oct. 30. Trick-or-treating runs 5 to 7 p.m., and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl starts at 6:30 p.m. The page doesn't list a price or seating rules.

Getting around on game nights

The TECO Line Streetcar is free and runs every 15 minutes. When there's a Lightning game or another weeknight or Sunday event at Benchmark International Arena, service runs until midnight Sunday through Thursday. That covers the Oct. 5, 8, 15 and 29 games. The rider page doesn't describe extended service for Saturday events, so Oct. 17 and the Oct. 31 concert fall outside what's published.

Parking at the Wharf goes through Water Street's ParkMobile system. For anyone who lives within walking distance, the Wednesday sessions are the easiest Wharf events of the month to get to. The Thursday game nights are the hardest.

The walking connection people keep asking about is still on paper. An October 2025 feasibility report prepared for the City and its CRA recommends further study of a Riverwalk link running under the bridge between the path near the Tampa Bay History Center and Sparkman Wharf. Design, permitting and funding are listed as next steps.

Into November

The arena schedule stays busy after Halloween, with the Cash Money & No Limit Tour on Nov. 7 and RUSH from Nov. 9 to 11. A short walk west, Water Street's Season Spectacular runs Thursday, Nov. 12, from 5 to 9 p.m., and its resident artists play free music every Friday and Saturday through October. For a wider list of plans around the city, our guide to things to do in Tampa covers more ground.

Fitness studios, a pet shop and coffee and juice counters running a landlord's event calendar is also a leasing story, and small-format tenants are the ones getting space on that lawn. If you run a studio, shop or food concept and want to know what a spot in a Channel District podium or container setting really costs, Alan J.
