If you live in the Channel District, you probably plan around the arena schedule. This November, the port's calendar sets more of your week. Port Tampa Bay's published calendar for November 2026 lists ship turnarounds on 20 of the month's 30 days. Eight of those days put three ships in port at once, and nearly all of them land on weekends. The Lightning, by comparison, play eight home games that month.
The busy days are lopsided across the calendar. Most of the extra traffic piles onto Saturdays and Sundays. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are largely empty at the terminals. Things change in the middle of the month, when the last two seasonal ships make their first Tampa turnarounds.
Mid-November is when the full fleet shows up
October is a warm-up. Royal Caribbean's Radiance of the Seas is the first fall entry on the Port's schedule, dated October 1. The heavier lineup builds through November. Carnival announced that Carnival Legend would join the year-round Carnival Paradise in Tampa from November 2026 through March 2027. Norwegian is selling Tampa sailings on Norwegian Gem from November 2026 through April 2027. As of mid-September, the line told Cruise Critic it was still evaluating what comes after that.
Both ships make their first listed Tampa turnaround on Monday, November 16, and Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas turns around that same day. That gives the month its only weekday with three ships in port. From then on, eight ships rotate through Terminals 2, 3 and 6: Carnival Paradise and Carnival Legend, Radiance of the Seas, Enchantment of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas, Celebrity Summit, Margaritaville at Sea Islander and Norwegian Gem.
Here is every November date with all three terminals working, according to the Port's calendar:
| Date | Terminal 2 | Terminal 3 | Terminal 6 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sun., Nov. 1 | Celebrity Summit | Carnival Paradise | Islander |
| Sat., Nov. 7 | Radiance of the Seas | Jewel of the Seas | Islander |
| Sun., Nov. 15 | Enchantment of the Seas | Carnival Paradise | Celebrity Summit |
| Mon., Nov. 16 | Jewel of the Seas | Carnival Legend | Norwegian Gem |
| Sat., Nov. 21 | Radiance of the Seas | Carnival Legend | Norwegian Gem |
| Sun., Nov. 22 | Enchantment of the Seas | Jewel of the Seas | Celebrity Summit |
| Sat., Nov. 28 | Radiance of the Seas | Carnival Paradise | Norwegian Gem |
| Sun., Nov. 29 | Enchantment of the Seas | Carnival Legend | Celebrity Summit |
Terminal assignments change from one sailing to the next. Celebrity Summit is listed at Terminal 2 on November 1 and at Terminal 6 on every Sunday after that. Jewel of the Seas switches between Terminals 2 and 3. The Port notes on each listing that schedules are subject to change.
The quiet days are mostly midweek
Reverse the table and you get a list of days with no ships at the terminals. November has 10:
- Tuesdays: Nov. 3, 10, 17 and 24
- Wednesdays: Nov. 4, 11 and 18
- Fridays: Nov. 6 and 13
- Thursday: Nov. 26
Wednesday, November 25 is the exception. Islander is listed at Terminal 6 that day, a week after the quiet November 18. Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, and that day is clear. If you're planning a Channelside Drive errand, a delivery or a visit from family, the midweek days are the dependable ones.
The one day that stacks ships and a game
The Lightning's 2026–27 schedule overlaps with ship days often, but usually lightly. Here is how November's home games line up with the Port calendar:
| Lightning home game | Puck drop | Ships at the terminals that day |
|---|---|---|
| Tue., Nov. 3 vs. Detroit | 7 p.m. | None |
| Thu., Nov. 5 vs. Chicago | 7 p.m. | Carnival Paradise |
| Sat., Nov. 14 vs. Detroit | 7 p.m. | Radiance of the Seas, Islander |
| Tue., Nov. 17 vs. Washington | 7 p.m. | None |
| Thu., Nov. 19 vs. Edmonton | 7 p.m. | Carnival Paradise |
| Sun., Nov. 22 vs. Buffalo | 5 p.m. | Summit, Jewel, Enchantment |
| Wed., Nov. 25 vs. Carolina | 7 p.m. | Islander |
| Fri., Nov. 27 vs. Ottawa | 3 p.m. | Jewel of the Seas |
Sunday, November 22 is the only date this fall with all three terminals working and a home game on the same day, and that game starts early, at 5 p.m. The weekend before it carries the most weight too. Saturday the 21st is another three-ship day with Legend and Gem, and the Lightning are on the road. For October, only one home game remains once this post publishes: Thursday, October 29 against Winnipeg at 7 p.m., when Radiance of the Seas is scheduled to turn around.
Which part of the street each terminal loads
The three terminals put their traffic in different places, so where you live along Channelside Drive matters.
- Terminal 2, 651 Channelside Drive. This is the closest terminal to Sparkman Wharf at 615 Channelside Drive. Enchantment of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas use it on most of November's busy days.
- Terminal 3, 815 Channelside Drive. It sits directly across from the port's Channelside garage at 810 Channelside Drive, so Carnival's two ships draw garage traffic to that block. The Port says parking at 810 Channelside Drive is available only when a ship is in port, subject to availability.
- Terminal 6, McKay Street. This is the farthest north. Islander, Norwegian Gem and Celebrity Summit use it on most of their November dates.
The Port's terminal guide sends drop-off and valet traffic along a blue route and port-parking traffic along a red route, with a separate map for each terminal. The Port doesn't publish a live congestion feed or a detour plan for residents, so those maps are the best guide to which curb lanes the cruise traffic will use.
The cruise lines' own rules show how arrivals are spread across the day. At Terminal 6, Margaritaville at Sea says the doors open at 9:30 a.m. and close promptly at 2:30 p.m., with arrival windows assigned by stateroom. Norwegian tells guests without a reserved check-in time to arrive after noon and at least two hours before departure. Royal Caribbean has guests pick a time slot in its app and won't board anyone who arrives early. Taken together, the boarding crowd builds from late morning into early afternoon.
The streetcar runs past all three
The TECO Line Streetcar has four stops along this stretch: Port Tampa Bay Station at McKay Street, York Street Station, The Florida Aquarium Station at Cumberland Avenue, and Water Street Station at Beneficial Drive. Its posted schedule lists all rides as fare-free, with cars every 15 minutes. Hours run 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday. On Sunday through Thursday nights with a Lightning game or other event at Benchmark International Arena, TECO Line says service runs until midnight. That covers the evening of November 22. TECO also notes that arrivals can run up to five minutes off schedule when ridership or traffic is heavy.
Why every season looks busier than the last
The pattern is still growing. In a March 10, 2026 release, Port Tampa Bay forecast 53 three-ship days for calendar 2026, more than twice the roughly 20 it recorded in earlier years. The same release forecast 394 ship calls and about 1.8 million passengers for 2026, up from a record 1.66 million in 2025. On the Port's fiscal-year count, FY25 passenger traffic rose 37% over FY24 and sailings rose from 272 to 368. The same release says the terminals are operating near capacity.
That explains the construction fencing at the former Metroport site, where the Banana Docks used to be. Port Tampa Bay announced on August 3 that Kimmins Contracting Corporation is filling the site to create more than five acres of new land and relocating stormwater infrastructure there. The fill work is expected to run through late 2026. A settlement period follows before building starts. The fourth cruise terminal is expected to open in 2029, and HDR and BEA Architects are designing it along with a parking garage. The Port says the new terminal should handle more than 200 additional ship calls a year. WTSP reported that nearby residents have raised traffic concerns, and the Port told the station it is coordinating with developers on traffic flow, parking and passenger access.
The city's own street work is almost done. Channelside Drive between Kennedy Boulevard and Cumberland Avenue is complete, with new crossings, wide sidewalks, a landscaped median and better access to streetcar stations. The Channel District project page lists one major phase still to start. Phase E1 covers roadway, utility and water-main work on N. 12th Street north of E. Twiggs Street and is expected to begin in late 2026 or early 2027. The page gives early 2027 as the completion date for the whole program.
The near-term pattern is already on the Port's calendar. December starts the same way November ends: Jewel of the Seas on Wednesday, December 2, Carnival Paradise on Thursday, December 3, and Radiance of the Seas with Islander on Saturday, December 5.
Ship counts affect more than traffic. They shape foot traffic, parking demand and the case for leasing ground-floor space along Channelside Drive.
